HoloPixel

A script for generating hologram effects, digital interference, and color distortion in Aseprite 1.3.x.

Working Modes:

Current Frame: Generates an animated sequence of the length you define from a single static image, creating automatic opacity and glitch variations in each frame.

Selected Frames: Applies the effects only to the range of frames you have highlighted in the timeline.

Full Animation: Processes all frames of the current sprite globally.

Effects:

Waves: Distortion based on classic, triangle, square, noise, pulse, and damped functions. Allows you to configure amplitude, frequency, speed, and direction (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal).

Scanlines: Animated scan lines with horizontal, vertical, cross, and diagonal modes.

Glitch: Six digital error variants, including pixel shift, resolution cascade, data rain, pixel sort, RGB channel desynchronization, and fractal patterns.

Chromatic Aberration: Color channel shift configurable by zone (left/right edges or entire sprite) with animated separation distance.

Color and Mix: Options to tint the result (Cyan, Green, Blue, or custom color) or keep the original colors. Includes Normal, Add, and Screen blending modes.

Beam: Simulates a beam of light at the base of the sprite with adjustable height and intensity.

Installation and Use

Copy the Holopixel.lua file to the Aseprite scripts folder.

Run the script from the File > Scripts menu.

Configure the parameters in the tabs and click Generate.

The script will create a new separate layer with the result, without modifying the original material. To better appreciate the effect, add a layer below the hologram with a solid color that is linked for the entire animation.
